About the game
Running Late
In Running Late, you arrive late for work and must explain yourself to a boss waiting at your desk. The game uses cards to build an increasingly unusual excuse, from traffic problems to pigeon negotiations, weather balloons, and an unrepentant dog.
Build an excuse that holds together
Each day, choose up to three cards for your excuse chain. Every card establishes details about what happened, so later choices need to match the story already in place. If your explanation conflicts with an earlier fact—such as saying you rode the bus before blaming a flat tire—the game marks it as a contradiction and reduces your credibility.
After choosing cards, respond to follow-up questions from the boss. Your answers must fit the excuse chain you have created.
What to expect
- A single-player card game about creating a consistent excuse.
- Three excuse cards can be added per day.
- Follow-up questions that require a response.
- A redraw option and a one-time truth-telling option per run.
- Mouse or touch controls.
Keeping your story straight
Pay attention to the facts introduced by every card before adding another one. A strange excuse can still work if its details remain consistent. Use the available redraw and truth options carefully, as the truth option is limited to once during a run.
Running Late is a 1 Player card game centered on bluffing, story details, and avoiding contradictions.
